Valérie Lobsang-Gattini - Ngakma Tsering Dolma

Her discovery of the Tibetan universe goes back to 1977, when as a child she walked for the first time on the steps of the Tibetan monasteries of Laddhak and laid her eyes on the tangkas adorning their walls. The footprint is laid, the seed will slowly germinate. Several calls came, but it was not until 1997 that her path crossed that of Geshela Thubten Tenzin in Darwin. For almost a year and a half, she immersed herself 100% of her time in Tibetan Buddhism, following in the footsteps of Tsonkhapa and meeting herself.

A deep personal commitment

"In 1998, when I left my first master, Geshela, after one year of near retirement at his side, I had two choices. To enter a Nunnery to continue and deepen the practices, or to return to the West with the risk of losing them forever because of being far from the masters, especially at that time and in the region where I lived. Nunnery seemed to me "too easy" because it is easier to keep the vows and therefore the peace of mind inside the enclosed space of the Nunnery. I was convinced that the best way to pacify the mind was to realize it through the jolts of Samsara.

Back in Europe, the path continued differently. Concentration is put on the wrong supports, karma and Samsara hammer their imprints in a hard way but the confidence is still there, indelible, because I knew that it was only "temporary" and that a day would come when I would finally be able to find the Dharma (the teachings), the Masters, and the practices. When that day came, the connections between life and the teachings became so obvious, and they continue to draw beautiful bridges between past and present, helping to demonstrate how intelligent karma can be.

In 2015, as I decided to create space in all facets of my life, the teachings, masters, and practices popped up and have since been ever more present, pouring in from all directions. Connections are being redrawn, and the path has been put back into place.

2018 marks his ordination in the Ngakpa tradition, a key event in his life that took place in Guru Rinpoche's cave in Tso Pema, a place I have carried in my heart since my first visit in 2003. This white-robed, dreadlocked Buddhist community was founded by Vajra Master Padmasambhava in the eighth century, at the time of the Tibetan king Trisong Deutsen. It spread and developed thanks to his twenty-five disciples. It was His Holiness Lho Ontul Rinpoche who did my ordination. He is a great master of Mahamudra and Dzogchen and reincarnation of Drog Ban Khiu Chung Lotsawa, one of the 25 disciples of Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava). The majority of Ngakpa are followers of Guru Rinpoche, Padmasambhava, their great and common ancestor.

Taking the Ngakpa ordination was therefore for me an obvious choice and a concretization of these 20 years of non-practice and yet "practice through Samsara". I had, at the time of my choice in 1998, decided to walk towards the difficulty, which today reveals all its splendor through the Universal Master.

I always had this dream of teaching while being lay, and in fact I was approaching the Ngakpa current. Today I am making this choice concrete by associating daily practices, teaching and everyday life.

Experiences allow me to bring the teaching closer to the reality of each person, and it is therefore with happiness that I continue to learn more and more, to transmit more and more, and to advance more and more in the inner transformation.
